Hello
I have found some great flights to Turin and want to head towards the Cervinia area by train for a short ski trip. I also want entice my long suffering wife who doesn't really ski with me. The plan is to sell a cute mountain getaway town. I have been to Cervinia before and loved it but the town is not great for non skiing day trippers. Is there a town with a better day scene going on for an occasional non skier that I can hit by train from Turin.

All suggestions welcome.
Many Thanks
Barry

Pila (staying in Aosta)?
Not been myself (yet) but Aosta is a proper old and interesting town in the valley, with gondola access direct into the Pila ski area?

I agree Courmayeur is a good Idea..not bad skiing and there is a ski bus to La Thuile . An interesting town and also a direct bus to Chamonix or a day out

Concur with Daved and Elevabloke. There is even a train, albeit a little infrequent to Courmayeur.

I would agree with the recommendations fro Courmayour. It is a smallish village but has a genuine village feel to it. The people watching is great there with more fur on show than you will ever have seen in your life. I believe lots of wealthy folks from Milan have holiday homes there and store their furs there throughout the year.

Another possible option which is a lot closer to Turin would be Sauze d'Oulz. It is only about an hour by road from Turin and I believe there is a train service that runs quite close. It is a decent size village.

The train service for Sauze stops at Oulx at the bottom of the valley. When I went there with my wife several years ago she went to Turin daily catching the local bus down for just a few Euros. Trains are very regular and cheap...I think it was 10 euros return. Both local trains and the TGV stop at Oulx.(dont forget to validate your ticket!! :))

Ok. Courmayeur sounds like a win win. Many thanks.
