Hi all
After last ski season I stupidly put my ski jacket in the wash, with some normal detergent (not a huge amount if I remember) and it wasn't until afterwards I realised how stupid i'd been.

I have just booked to go skiing again and can't afford a new jacket! What do you think the chances are it's maintained it's waterproof-ness? Also, stupid question, any ideas on how I can test this out!? I don't exactly live in a snowy climate and don't know how to do a decent test otherwise!? I don't want to risk going and then find it's not keeping water out.

You this on a slow spin setting make sure you remove the detergent draw first and clean the compartment out of residue.

In future use this to wash any waterproof clothing I wash all my outdoor jackets in it, then every so often with the wash in to keep them in top shape.

Hi
If it's a jacket worth saving
Snowandrock have some good pre wash and reproofing stuff.
One wash won't wreck your jacket so how old was it anyway.
We all need a good excuse to get new kit

Hi guys sorry for late response!

Jacket is deffo worth saving.

Thanks for recommendations of reproofing stuff - didn't even know this existed!!!

I put some paper in the ski pass holder of my jacket earlier and then completely wet the jacket - got paper out, seemed ok/not damp so now i'm wondering whether to just leave it and take a risk with it, or to wash it with proofing stuff... thoughts?

For what it costs I would just reproof it!

The worst feeling in the world is being cold and wet up a mountain!

Mountain Warehouse and Millets sell good reproofing gunk. Make sure you thoroughly clean out the detergent holder and FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS
