Selva Val Gardena

Hi all!
Myself and 5 friends are heading here the first week of March in 2018. Looking forward to it!!! Any suggestions for lunch on the Selle Ronda, apres ski venues, dinner stops and must ski slopes? We are all advanced skiers. Jim

The world cup to Selva and the Saslong are the challenging runs and a good place for lunch is the top of Dantercerpies..but you will find decent restaurants at reasonable prices all over the Sella Ronda...fantastic area ..I'm there for 3 weeks in January

Had 7 days there in January 2017.
The scenery is fantastic from all sides of the Sella Ronda, we managed the clockwise circuit and the anti-clockwise circuit in about 3 hours for each (group of intermediates), both circuits are easily followed with large Green and Orange signs, you can't go wrong.

Corvara ski area, (clockwise circuit from Selva up the Dantercepies Gondola) was particularly good, with a great little round shaped cafe at the foot of the chairlifts there.
In Arabba ski area, your lift pass will let you ride the big Gondola (Saas Pordoi) up to the Terrazza Della Dolomitic, the highest viewing point of the Sella Ronda, we left our skies outside in the snow, at the foot of the Gondola, as did everyone else but there are ski lockers inside the Gondola station (I believe it's only skiable down from there if conditions are favourable and it'll be off piste, someone with more knowledge may well correct me), there is a nice restaurant at the top with splendid views over the landscape.
There are lots of cafe's, bars, restaurants all around the circuits (bare in mind that you won't be on the same pistes & lifts clockwise as you will anti-clockwise, with a small exception of a few).

There are lively bars and restaurants in town at the foot of the Ciampinoni gondola, with Luislkeller bar being extremely popular form early afternoon until close.
Be sure to go west of Selva Gardena to Saint Christina and onto Ortisei, also the Siusi area on the opposite side (all easily achievable in a day but start early to ensure you cover the whole area), eventually skiing back down at the end of the day to Ortisei for a few drinks/food before hopping on the service bus (or taxi) in the central square for your journey back to Selva Gardena.

We will return there for sure in years to come.

The Marmalada is on the other side of the Sella Ronda. It's the highest mountain in the Dolomites and has museum half way up with history about the WW1.
The Hidden Valley is gorgeous. It's a taxi ride from, I think, Corvara. At the end of the valley you're pulled along by horses!! A lot of history here too from WW!.
There's also a monastry which you can ski too, somewhere north of Colfosco. Didn't quite make it there this year due to the weather but it's a must from my trip in January.

You might be interested in the thread I created with my trip report on the Dolomites last year. I'm was staying at the opposite end of the Sella Ronda in the Val Di Fassa but covered the entire area. I am going back again in February and staying in Selva this time. I will be really interested to see if the experience is different when staying at the opposite end of the area. In my view it is a truly wonderful ski area -)
