Can't help with the bus, but past few seasons snow depths are shown on our history pages :-
Saalbach snow depth history
January should almost always be good for snow, but there's no way to tell in advance (either from silly long-term forecast guessing, or from past seasons).

Try posting your question on Snowheads. There's a bloke on there (Tatman) who lives in Saalbach. He'll know about the bus. In the meantime, try this little lot: https://www.saalbach.com/en/service/info/skibus-nightliner

Hi, I'm not sure about a bus in saalbach as we always stay in leogang (all linked) but there is definitely a bus at leogang also we got stuck in saalbach once as we'd misse last lift cut off and we were able to bus it back. As for snow, I've been to this area about 15 times give or take and a lot in January and have yet to have bad snow. That being said I can't comment on what's to come this season but from my experience, even though it's low altitude, it's a little gem that a lot of brits ignore because of this at their loss. I love it there and the Austrians are a great bunch. Hope this helps.

Train to Zell am Zee and there is an hourly bus to Saalbach..that's if you want to get there...Some of our party went with the ski club for the day from Kaprun at the end of January and said it was OK..In Zell it was OK in the mornings but got icy in the late afternoon

A reliable and frequent bus service runs during lift opening hours up and down the Glemmtal, calling at all the major points. If you miss the last bus, taxis are cheap and plentiful!

Of course there's a flippin' ski bus -)
Huge linked ski area there now, bigger than Espace Killy (Tignes + Val d'Isere).
Saalbach has its own microclimate and so its snow record is very good.
I just bough a season pass from Oct to May for Saalbach, Hinterglemm, Leogang, Fieberbrunn, Kaprun and Zell am See for €546. Try getting that sort of value in France!
Great choice Saalbach.
