Hi I have booked a group ski-ing holiday through Iglu to Andorra in March 2018. The main group are flying from from Manchester with Jet2 Airways.
I am flying from Gatwick with British Airways.
I have been told by Iglu that ski carriage for BA can only be purchased direct with airline on the day of travel at the airport. They have quoted me £40 each way £80 in total.
In the past I have Paid £35 in total with Norwegin and Thomas Cook airlines.
Is this usual practice while flying with British Airways ?
It seems very steep as I can hire Skis and poles in the resort for £70.
Any thoughts, views or experiences of flying with BA and dealing with Iglu would be very much appreciated. Regards

I would have a look at the BA website. Not flown to a ski resort with them myself, but the prices you quote do sound a bit steep.
It may be cheaper to send your skis via a courier. I bought new skis from a shop in Germany and cariage to uk was only a tenner.
Skied: On snow, On water, On mud, On slush, On ice. Oh, and on a few dry slopes.

I usually fly BA and whether it is a schedule flight or part of a package have been able to take my ski bag on as my hold luggage eg23kilos. Worth asking BA.

This is why i drive!!

"Europe

Euro Traveller (Economy) = FREE checked baggage allowance of one bag per person weighing a maximum of 23kg. If you check-in a second bag (max. 23kg), then you pay £65 at the airport (or £60 on BA.com prior to online check in stage) – this charge is each way. Please note that these rates exclude flights to and from London Gatwick, which incurs an additional bag charge of £40 per bag at the airport (or £36 per bag on BA.com prior to online check-in stage) each way. If you take ski equipment* then this is now regarded as a second bag and charges apply as above. *Please be aware that a separate boot-bag would be regarded as a third bag and charges apply as above."

These are the charges for skis by BA, it's ridiculous that's why I don't fly to ski with them, use Swiss instead, ski's go free. Even EasyJet is half the price of BA for skis, BA obviously don't want our business.

We had the same issue this year so to keep the cost down those travelling from London gave their skies/boards to those travelling with the other carrier. It cut the cost in half
