Went to Champoluc about 5 years ago when they had no snow for a whole month, the pistes were still in excellent condition, though a little icy and hard packed, they are fantastic at making snow and preparing the pistes so you will have no issue.

Hi Nigelthegrafter

Have skied Champoluc about six or seven times and it is a delightful area, particularly suited for cruising intermediates. The snow conditions here are certainly above average for the height of the resort. Regarding the 18th, that is a mountain away in terms of snowfall and I feel sure that you will get some super skiing in Champoluc. Even if conditions are a little sparse you can quickly gain height with the six seat gondola out of Champoluc and head over to Gressoney and Alagna, gaining height, and better snow all the way. Champoluc has invested a lot in snow making and please let me know when you get back if the snow wasn't OK! Finally you will be amazed at the lack of queues and open pistes although be prepared for the weekend invasion of the hordes from Milan and Turin.
