Hi I need some expert advice from people who have done it please.
I plan to drive in a hired car from Nice to Isola 2000 in March 2015. My question is:- How well are the roads kept clear of snow for the trip up there?

Thank you
John

Very easy drive it's only an hour and unless there is a huge amount of snow the roads are usually very clear.
There is a very good bus service to the resort from Nice airport.
When in doubt?....Flat out.

Thank you for your reply.
I was told that the bus takes 2 hours. I prefer to drive where possible and if the roads are normally clear and open, that is what I will do.
Do you think a set of chains are a good investment or a waste of money?

Good investment if you need them, waste of money if you don't.

Hi there, skied Isola a few years back, really nice little resort for skiing, nothing post ski but a really good cheaper option. Are you aware the transfer bus from Nice only costs about 5 euros return?

Hi, as a guy who lives in the area and visits this resort a lot, last week for example, you need to be aware that snow chains are obligatory if heading up this road from Isola village.

This is no ordinary road, extremely steep and twisty in places but plenty wide. It can be a nightmare, even with chains on. My advice, check conditions and head over to Limone Piemonte in Italy. Easier drive, better variety of skiing and just a fantastic true Italian experience!

Enjoy which ever you choose :-D
