This season we're going to be running a few "Friday Fun" competitions, with some great prizes lined up... and we start this week with...

Oakley Flight Decks

We've been long-time fans of Oakley's goggles, and your very own Adders can usually be found hiding his mug behind some Oakley Crowbars.

Oakley have a well-deserved reputation for the quality (both of frame and, crucially, the optics) of their goggles, and for standing by it with some impressive tales of customer service around the ski forums.

So we were interested to see their new "low-profile frame" design, the "Flight Deck", and even more interested when the very nice people at ShadeStation offered us a pair to review... and give away to one of you!

So, what have we got?

Oakley wrote:Inspired by the helmet visors of fighter pilots, Flight Deck™ has an unrivalled field of view with a wide range of helmet compatibility.

So, no problem spotting Jester behind you but remember to stay above the hard deck or the kill won't count... I'm guessing J2Ski's very own Iceman will be entering the draw for these... but that's enough gratuitous Top Gun references (until I can think of any more).

Like our crowbars, the fit is close to perfect and the flexible materials and three-layer foam seal make them feel very light and comfortable - with or without a helmet. The traditional 50mm strap is augmented with three stripes of silicon gel on the inside so it'll stay in place on your lid.

There are 18 combinations of strap and lens available "off the shelf", with a wide variety of lenses for different light.

The lens supplied with our model is the gorgeous High Intensity Persimmon ("Flat to low light. Filters blue light to boost contrast and increase depth perception in a wide variety of conditions. Features an Iridium® coating that further enhances contrast."). To our eyes at least, it does exactly what it says - the view is very crisp and clear under grey skies.

Changing lenses is straightforward (easy, even) so - again, like the crowbars - you'll probably want to invest in one or two lens options for different light conditions.

The quality looks up to the standard we've come to expect and we can easily see these goggles staying in your essential kit for many years (we've lost track of the number of other well-known brands whose goggles have fallen apart after a couple of seasons).

They come with a soft bag to protect the lens; you can buy hard cases to keep them extra safe although we usually stow them in a helmet for travel.

...wear them on the plane, or even to the pub, for that authentic Tom Cruise look...

Ok, ok, cut to the chase... THE PRIZE!

We have one set of goggles just like this to give away. Oakley Flight Decks, with a Hi Persimmon lens and Peacoat Blue strap. RRP of £150! You know you want some...

TO WIN THESE GOGGLES

Just send Admin a Private Message (so you need to sign-up with J2Ski if you've not already) with the answer to this question :-

Which model of ski goggles is Adders hiding behind in this picture?

The winner will be picked at random from all correctly answered entries received by 09:00 (uk time) Thursday 27th November and will be announced then...

WITH THANKS
