Some of the incidents are certainly in "advanced" terrain but a number are right next to pistes on just the sort of slopes I know are popular amongst us "recreational" skiers...

This is a good time to brush up on your avy safety theory, and think about getting some guidance in the mountains. Many resorts now have free transceiver practice sessions and locations, and a number of organisations run regular talks and lectures - so do yourself a favour and get along to one!
