Am thinking of popping up to spend a day at the show. Need some new clothing and hav'nt come up with next years ideas for skiing. Would appreciate any info from those who have been before on how useful the trip would be.

I tend to go cause it is the ski show but always come away dissapointed, you do not get a lot of bargains as it is the lead up to the ski season, you can get to meet up with other J2skiers to put a face to the name... sometimes.

Last year I managed to score some free tickets to the Ski show in Earls Court... just as well they were free cos I would not have been happy if I paid, the best thing about going was scoring a free bar of chocolate because I answered a questionnaire!
Millions of stands trying to sell you a holiday, over priced gear, as Wickham says, it's the run up to Winter so no cracking discounts, a coach (an actual Coach) trying to advertise airport transfers(!) wanna be Ski dudes trying to sell you the latest ski's acting like they're the big man who knows everything about these skis and could Heli-Ski in Alaska, even though he only read the write up that came from the Ski manufacturer, so when you walk away from a ski that was over 100mm underfoot he acts like you're a beginner and he's god or something... AND a really rubbish Dry slope that people take WAY too seriously, I once sat an drank an over priced coffee watching a woman get annoyed because she couldn't ski on it (!) ... made the £4 I paid for my coffee worth it but that's about all

Well, Helleva bloke I have been to a good few London ski shows over the years-last went last year to Earls Court. Must generally agree with Mr. Wickham about the selling and some silly displays. Trying to be a bit positive about the show it is a reasonable opportunity to compare various shops prices (Snow & Rock, Blacks, small independents etc.). Also, we now ( as you are well aware) the internet forums and online offers. From a personal point of view I have always found Snow and Rock, don't know if one is near you but Google it, to have the greatest range of products for skiers and also with boots, will change if your boots give grief even if you have worn them for a few days. Have to say if you are going to skie late in the season, i.e. after half term and up to April it is then that the best deals become available. It does boil down to personal choice and I seriously think that there is no definitive best way to purchase ski gear. You sometimes see in the resort shops terrific deals and also, if you can live with it, last years stule/skies/boards may be reduced by 50%. Good luck!!!
