Hi.
We are visiting Canada in October 2013 and was wondering if we had any chance of seeing snow at that time of the year.
Visiting Vancouver and Banff areas.

From Australia.
Maybe we will be lucky.

I went last year in October and it was very snowy indeed!

I wouldn't worry about it
See you on the slopes!

Hi, No resorts in Alberta open prior to 1st or 2nd week in November.

You will see snow on the mountains. In Banff, you can see snow in the mountains at higher elevations now. Both Sunshine and Lake Louise ski hills have had snow already but it is a hit or miss thing whether it will stick around. If you can, take a tour up the ice fields parkway to the Columbia ice fields. You have a fair chance of it snowing up there and you can always go up for a buggy ride on the glacier if you want to touch and feel snow.
Cheers, I hope you enjoy your visit

Actually, Mt Norquay (where I learned to ski) has managed to be the first to open in Canada for 2 years in a row. They opened last weekend of October last year and Nov 1 this year. Now, we're talking pretty minimal ski terrain and on a manmade base but at $10-$25/day just getting your skis on is great.

I'm in the Okanagan and we're getting dumped on at the upper elevations today. Opening days are planned for the last weekends in November but I've got my fingers crossed for Nov 23/24.
