Les Houches

Was planning a short ski trip to Les Houches at the beginning of April, but am now concerned that there won't be great snow. Would Les Gets or Megeve be a better bet? Would prefer a short and cost effective transfer from Geneva. Thanks

I went to Les Houches at the beginning oflast April.
The snow was good enough for a couple of days skiing and we really enjoyed it. You could ski into the village, but the snow did get heavy and churned up and also patchy in places.
This year might be different, you can't tell what will happen, but if it were me I wouldn't be choosing either of those 3 places.
I've been to Chamonix, Les Saisies, Val Thorens, Grand Massif, Puy St Vincent and Serre Chevalier in April and of all those VT and Flaine (part of Grand Massif) had the best snow.
Brevent and Le Flegere (part of Chamonix) were also very good.
Serre Chevalier worth a trip but be prepared to catch gondola down.
The others were perfectly skiable and enjoyable but much harder work at the end of the day as lower runs got softer.

Obviousy each year differs in terms of depth. I chose VT and Flaine based on new snowfall we had while we were there. And it was -15 on the glacie at VT on 10th April!

I would not worry, from Les Houches you have easy access to whole valley. Valley closed end of 1st week of May so there will be plenty of skiing within a short bus hop if required.
