Hi,

Any recommendations for thermal base layer, ie top and long johns. Preferably a turtle neck top, and preferably knee-length rather than ankle-length long johns.

I did have some from Uniqlo which were cheap and great, except that I tumbled dried them by accident, which made them shrink. And Uniqlo no longer make knee-length long johns.

I notice M&S do thermal underwear. Any good? I notice they don't do knee-length though.

Ta.

Aldi thermals seem to get rave reviews, if you can visit a store got to be worth checking out.

HH are consistent and last for years. Pick the warmth level to suit you.

Helly hansen.

M&s are good, I worked there and got them free. Personally I don't wear thermals, find them far too warm. Pair of shorts for warm bum on chairlifts and maybe fleece top if it is chilly

There is a thread somewhere about what people wear - look in hardware section :)

I have a merino, base and upper. Both very thin & light. That's all, under my jacket. No long johns, just the sallos.

Merino is an incredible material, 100% wool, total pass through absorbency, warm, not scratchy as some some skins have suggested!

It is costly up front, but then I have worn the same two tops for 300 days a year, for a couple of years, so I guess that means they are hard wearing.
