Hi!
Hope your not getting fed up with all the 'Can you recommend me a resort' threads,as Im about to ask the same question
This year i've been tasked with sorting out the Ski holiday (not a problem, as I usually let someone else sort everything out and just ask them to let me know how much I owe them, so I suppose it is my turn! )
Basically looking for a holiday for a group of 6 - 8 to ski late January (WC 21/1 or 28/1 would be fine). The group is made up of pretty solid 'intermediates', all have between 3 - 6 week long ski holidays worth of experience under our belts - would say we are comfortable on Blue / Red, most of us also happy to have a go on easier Blacks.
Main requirements of the group is a good 'ski' resort (naturally :D), however by that I mean that we're not massivly concerned about a lively Apre Ski, as it's the actual Skiing that interests us, also we are all Ski-ers, no boarders. Providing there a good bar or 2 for a drink after the days ski-ing this will be fine, not bothered about being able to drink into the small hours (gets in the way of the next days ski-ing! )
We have previously been to La Thuile (several times, loved it), Bardoecchia (loved that too!), Arinsal/Pal in Andorra (had very poor ski-ing whether so difficult to judge) and Borovets (first ever ski experiance for most of us, chosen as it was cheap. Learned a very important lesson, pay more and never go to Bulgaria again!!)
while we love the Italian resorts we have previously been to, I'm keen to go somewhere new to explore new runs - just gave the above as a taster for the sort of thing we like.
Have been Self Catering and Half board, dont mind either, have always stayed in hotel, never tried Chalet (not to say we wouldn't).
Anyone able to recommend any areas to have a look at that based on the above you think we might enjoy?
Many thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Tony_H's big secret...Serre Chevalier. 250kms of piste, 70% in trees, it really is fabulous especially at that time of the year. AND for France not to expensive. Shhhhh...don't tell anyone )
Carving leaves me all on edge

If you're not scared of the Swiss franc, then have a look at Engelberg or Flims-Laax. Otherwise if not St Anton (solid suggestion) what about Flaines or Morzine in France? All have variety to suit all levels but particularly intermediates and above. All have some lively choices for apres but not huge party towns (St Anton can be if you know where to go).

Certainly agree about Serre Chevalier or Lech/St.Anton area, but if you feel drawn back to Italy, take a look at the Madonna/Folgarida/Marilleva ski area with the wonderful scenery of the Dolomites.

Try the Hotel Pepi Gabl - St Anton. You couldn't ask for a better postion you can ski to door and it's just five minutes walk into town center.
It's always been a good price when I've been or looked. (I haven't looked this year though.)
