Our kids will take ski lessons and the other couple are expert skiers. can anyone tell me about the ski conditions in Ellmau? Also we are staying in a Chalet.. Is it easy to get around, get the ski passes and also rent ski equiments? thanx so much in advance for any upcoming info...

Hi Yalung,
We (family of six) went to Ellmau in 2007 it was our second time skiing and were thus in similar position to you. We had a fantastic its a superb village with good links to rest of the Ski-Welt. We were staying in the SAlzburg side of the village and the slopes (including nursery) were within 5-10 mins walk of the hotel. The village itself is not very big. There were reasonably regular free ski-buses to the other side of the village where the funicular departs. Basically Ellmau is a good choice for pretty and easy slopes (the Blues in Going are particularly good in this regard) with a good vareity of reds to progress to. The sports centre (with stainless steel pool which has channels outside in the snow and a range of wellness facilities) is well worth a visit although its accross the main road and a little way out of town. Really liked Ellmau and hope you have a good time.

Hey Russco-I am also heading to Ellmau over that weekend! You will have just missed the downhill race in Kitzbuhel (20th) which is what I am over there for. The person I am travelling with, her mum used to work in Ellmau and said it is beautiful. They also said that if the snow is bad (at only 900m) it is easy to travel over to other resorts which are slightly higher. For ski pass and hire, try this shop http://ellmau.skiset.co.uk/ before you go. They give a discount if you get say ski's+boots+helmets together. Not sure about the pass as yet. Have fun!!! Katie
