Hi,

First time to Pamporova in Bulgaria in Feb 2012 going with 6 adults and 3 children who are all on a second ski holiday so not great at sking yet. Anyone have any tips, recommendations for this resort. Staying at Snezhanka Hotel.

Phil

What made you pick it for a ski trip.....was it simply the price?
Personally I'd never go to Bulgaria to ski; too many stories of poor snow, terrible food, non existent infrastructure, broken skis, lifts not working, slopes not pisted, no signing, scams, beggars in the streets, prostitutes hanging round hotels, etc etc.

Dear Mr TAXI DRIVER.
Talk about beggars, youre advertising on a ski site isn't that not begging for money. I Cannot believe you can pass comment on other people judgements, I suppose you are the very opionated person at other peoples judgements!!! by the sound of it. I have been to bulagria 5 times, every time I went snow was great, food was good, lift systems are good better well signed pistes than other european resorts, i.e. france and Italy. The most important thing about Bulgaria is the culture (of which you appear to lack in  The bulgarians are lovely people. So choose your words carefuly!!!and write what you have experienced. I am a BASI skier in Scotland and I can assure you, the runs are not the hardest in the world to ski. BUT you get a fab holiday when you visit Bulgaria.
p.s. I usually ski 6-8 time abroad a year so have good knoweledge of europe.
Ohh one more thing----- arnt there prostitutes/beggars where you live in you town,Deepings. Are you one of the lager louts who go on holiday and give us british a bad name get pissed fight rather than go and enjoy your sport,
sounds like you are.

Peddy I am sure you all will have a great holiday

wow that really was a rant.

however there is something to be said about slating someones holiday choice after it has been booked. try not to put a downer on someones 2nd holiday, are they going to need knee deep powder on a 2nd trip? I know i would hate it if i came on the forum asking for tips on where i have booked and being told that im going to a place full of hookers and beggers and that i shouldnt have booked it.

Seem like a uncalled for personal attack, I agree with "Mr Taxi Driver" Bulgaria has never appealed to me for a lot of the reasons outlined by "Mr Taxi Driver" :D
Still each to his own perhaps we might have a positive report from Phil when he returns in Feb.

Peddy
been to Bulgaria twice, had a great time and its suited to beginners. the people are really friendly, one bar owner on the mountain even let us have a go on his skidoo and play our own CD's......(his music was rubbish)

Chip. Shoulder. Big one?

I used the word "personally" when saying I would not visit Bulgaria to ski for the reasons listed above, based on knowledge gained from others who have been. I hope those that go enjoy it, but I know its not for me. 3rd world country, which is gaining property investment from Russia (not in my opinion a good thing) with a history of bribery and corruption.

Where to start with your hilarious rant?

OK, firstly I do not beg to anyone for anything. My business address was listed on here with the specific permission of the web master and I do not spam with adverts.
Secondly I am not a taxi driver, I am an Airport Transfer Specialist. The 2 are quite different, not that theres anything wrong with taxi drivers.

I welcome and respect your personal experience of Bulgaria, assuming of course it is correct and not just made up for effect. I value other peoples experience just as much, and the huge majority of those I know who have been found it poor overall compared to the Alps for example, for all the reasons I listed. Therefore, I simply form my own opinion that I do not want to go there, having also researched and read up on the various resorts there myself, none of which offer anything I am looking for personally.
Culture? Do you actually know the meaning of the word? Everywhere has SOME culture of its own; I'm not an academic by any standards but to suggest I have no culture is both incorrect and stupid as you don't know me at all or what I am interested in. You would probably be quite surprised.
Your last 2 points unfortunately show up your attack as being both ill informed and, I think personal (which suggests that as a first post, you are actually a regular forum member posting under another name so as not to paint a negative picture about your other alias). No, there are no beggars where I live, and whilst I am sure there may well be prostitutes in the vast majority of towns across the UK in some form or another, there is no public awareness of any where I live and certainly not a problem with them, if there are in fact any around.
As for the final statement suggesting you are "sure" I am a lager lout.....well, I have no idea where that comes from other than some rather pathetic attempt to disrespect me personally on this forum. I haven't heard the term "lager lout" used for a long time, which suggests your are a mature person in years probably. Unfortunately for you, you are way off track here as I do not go on holiday to fight or get drunk, although I am partial to a decent drop of wine here and there. Chateauneuf du Pape is my personal favourite if you're interested?

Right to reply over. Hook line and sinker....not quite, but one has to respond doesn't one?

Lots of love,
Danny DeVito xx
