We are a family with 2 children (ages 9 and 7) looking to ski in Serfaus in Jan 07. I am planning 5 weeks in Europe (first time together), leaving Australia around Christmas, and including 2 weeks skiing. We are all intermediate perhaps advanced skiiers. My main question is will kids be able to have English speaking instructor? Group? in ski school. Other comments on good apartment in Serfaus and which 2 weeks would be best to go would be great. thanks!

Hi,
I'm from NZ but at the moment living in Schladming, Austria.
Usually Jan - Feb - Mid March is the most popular time due to the ski conditions. However from second week of Jan till Feb is perhaps the best time to go as there is less people around, which in turn makes your holiday that much more relaxing.(When I say less people I'm talking about avoiding large crowds everywhere,on the slopes, long waiting at ski lifts, restorants, toilets ....)
Schladming is a great place for a ski holiday even in summer. If you still haven't booked somewhere, and if interested I can give you information on the accomodation availability(from the front door straight on to the slopes),directions, transport, ski rentals, ski pass, ski school,as well as info on english speaking staff .You can get basic information about Schladming on the net,and if you need some more specific info just let me know,I'll be glad to help!
Good luck, and have a great trip!

Austrian ski schools typically have English-speaking instructors, especially in children's classes and, since Serfaus is a popular resort for the Dutch, it is even more likely over there.

You can have a look at the information for Serfaus skiing over here but I'm afraid I can't help you with any information about apartments. The tourist office probably can, however.
