Anyone been here at Xmas?

We were booked for January but may now go over Christmas to avoid taking my little one out of school twice. I was just wondering what the atmosphere will be like? I obviously just want to ski but I am sure the family will still want that Xmas feeling.

Also, how snow sure is ADH at Xmas time.... I know early season is always going to be a lottery but compared to other resorts how does it compare?
Skied: Arinsal, La Plagne, Alpe D'huez, Flaine, Les Arcs, Morzine, Les Gets, Avoriaz, Sauze, Courchevel, Val Thorens

I've skied at Christmas time, and it's been pretty festive. Many resorts celebrate Christmas Eve more so than Christmas Day, though having snow underfoot makes it seem more festive throughout.
Seen many folks turn out in fancy dress on the slopes. Generally a fun time, with seasonal markets and resorts making an extra effort for their visitors. I've not skied ADH at Christmas, though as it's reasonably high, it's as snow sure as anywhere else.

Fancy dress sounds great Bandit, think I will do that!

I think we will look at a hotel or chalet this time as we normally go sc, I'm sure there will be more fun that way.

Alpe D'Huez is very festive at Christmas and if you head for a catered chalet, the hosts will have the tree and decoration and all that to make it special for the family.
Christmas in a ski resort is a real treat and its great not to have to cook the dinner or wash up the dishes!

I was hoping to ski somewhere pre Xmas this season in order to appreciate the festivities and deccies around resort.

I've skied ADH early Jan and the conditions were incredible. Its high up so no need to worry at all. Great varied ski area.
