Ski Fitness - Balance and Coordination

Snow Mail

Balance and Co-ordination

Balance and Co-ordination can be included into both endurance and ski specific strength sessions. You can also give yourself 10 minutes to concentrate on this area if you feel you need to improve in this area.

This can be the most fun part of training for skiing. Wobble boards, balance cushions, and even the swiss-ball can be used to improve balance.

Injuries can damage your proprioception, (the sense by which you instinctively judge where your limbs are in space), and balance work will help you regain that awareness.

You could even take a leaf out of the great slalom skier Ingemar Stenmark's book and learn to ride a unicycle (also a talent of skiing legend Franz Klammer and former F1 Champ Mika Hakkinen).
