Skiing in Kiruna

Kiruna, Sweden (442m to 598m)

Established as an ore-mining town, Kiruna is actually the world's second biggest city, in terms of area covered. Today a training centre for cross country skiers from all over the world. It was built on a hill because it is not as cold as on the plains below. Skiing operates from 5pm to 9pm weekdays and 11am - 4pm at weekends. The season starts in November.
