The Auvergne in central France is the first region to receive the winter snow brought in by weather depressions from the west. The slopes at Besse-Super-Besse offer skiing on extinct volcanoes, with extensive cross-country in the foothills. The runs themselves are in a natural, almost treeless bowl, accesible from the top of the gondola. One of Europe's biggest ski areas outside the Alps.

The ski resort itself is above 1500m, so skiing or boarding back to the resort is usually possible.

Snowmaking :- Besse is able to augment natural snow, on 23km of ski runs, with 240 Snow Cannons.

Ski Lift Capacity :- The 22 Ski Lifts of Besse are able to uplift 20,000 skiers / snowboarders per hour.

There are three airports within two hours drive, so ski weekends, snowboard breaks and short ski holidays to Besse are perfectly feasible.
