Lánov, Czech Republic (490m to 490m)
An ancient village, first menbtioned in records of 1359 and boasting a late gothic church from 1511. Lánov is 6km from Vrchlabí, but has only limited skiing of its own with unpredictable snow cover - alkthough there is night skiing when it's there, and a sports air field for a bit of lively activity off the ski slope.
