Rifflsee - Ski Resort in Pitztal, Austrian Alps (1600m to 2800m)

One of Europe's highest and most snow-sure ski areas, and certainly the highest mountains in Austria's famous Tyrol, Pitztal's glacier ski area is accessed by an underground funicular (with 10,000 stairs running along the side of it) from September until May. The local pass covers two other ski areas - one on Rifflsee, the other on Hochzeiger. There is also a Burton-Funpark for snowboarders to enjoy.

Rifflsee

The Austrian ski resort of Rifflsee is part of the Pitztal ski area with access to 40 individual pistes, served by 22 ski lifts. In addition to the skiing in Rifflsee itself 101pisted ski runs), the appropriate ski Lift Pass will allow you to ski or snowboard in the other Pitztal ski resorts of HochZeiger and Pitztaler Gletscher.

The ski resort itself is above 1500m, so skiing or boarding back to the resort is usually possible. With pistes above 2500 metres, skiing and snowboarding is assured throughout the season.

Snowmaking :- Rifflsee is able to augment natural snow, on 6km of ski runs, with 18 Snow Cannons.

Ski Lift Capacity :- The 5 Ski Lifts of Rifflsee are able to uplift 20,000 skiers / snowboarders per hour.

There is an airport within two hours drive, so ski weekends, snowboard breaks and short ski holidays to Rifflsee are perfectly feasible.
