The Location

Chamrousse is at the heart of the Isere region, only half an hour away from Grenoble. It is a very popular resort with locals and was even used as an olympic site in 1968 where Jean-Claude Killy won his medals! Situated to the south of the Belledone massif, this winter sports resort dominates the Grenoble valley and offers beautiful pine forests as well as breathtaking views of the LOisan, le Vercours and la Chartreuse massifs.

The resort is divided into two resorts, linked by a regular bus service. There is "Recoin" at Chamrousse 1650 and "Roche-Beranger" in Chamrousse 1750 both of which have been the location for an ambitious regeneration programme in the last few months. This includes the renovation of existing buildings and the development of new residences and facilities, including shops and restaurants. It has been tipped as one of the best places to invest in in the French Alps as prices here are still very reasonable in comparison to the larger resorts.

There is a great range of activities found in the resort. Chamrousse has long since been the cradle of skiing with the ski area offering between 1650 and 2250 metres of altitude; 77 km of pistes reserved for alpine skiing as well as 40km of pistes for cross country skiing in the Arselle forest. Other snow based activities include snow shoe walking and dog sledding. Boarders can also benefit from the snowpark, big air and boardercross. Ski schools are available for those wishing to perfect their skiing or for an introduction to the sport. The resort is equally a member of the club "Les Petits Montagnards" and so there are different areas dedicated for children including child care and sport centres. At night holiday makers can profit from the bars and restaurants in the resort or finish the day with a film at the cinema or dancing in a night club!

Chamrousse is also a magnificent resort in summer offering an abundance of activities such as walking, mountain biking, paragliding, climbing and horse riding and shortly there will be a holiday park and a water park. The spa town Uriage les Bains is around twenty minutes from the resort and with Grenoble only half an hour away the resort has access to even more activities and attractions. Uriage les Bains offers a golf course, tennis club and casino.
