Snow opens the Chile Ski Season
The Santiago Times reports an optimistic opening weekend for Chile’s main ski resorts.
Thousands of Chilean and foreign visitors hit the slopes this past weekend as the major ski resorts around Santiago opened for business. A recent cold spell brought subzero temperatures to the capital city and more than a meter and a half of fresh snow to the mountains. Ski resorts expect a 10 percent rise in visitors this season.
Chile’s three biggest ski resorts - Valle Nevado, La Parva and El Colorado- all saw upwards of 15,000 people ski their slopes each day of the weekend.
