Cerler hosts Carnival!

CARNIVAL, a time for flamboyant dressing, mysterious disguises and…..skiing.

Torch-lit descent at Cerler Carnival

Cowboys and Indians, cavemen and clowns filled the slopes of the Spanish resort of Cerler at the weekend to take part in the carnival celebrations.

Not wanting to be out-done by the likes of Rio or Venice the Spanish resort of Cerler hosted its very own procession on-snow, and was filled with skiers and snowboarders in fancy dress.

Even the Teletubbies put in an appearance and Superman was there too, although he had to be taken away on a stretcher later for a minor injury.

The festivities in the Aramon resort began at midday as the colourful crowds took to the slopes, enjoying a two-for-one offer on ski-passes for anyone in fancy dress. After dark there was a descent by torch light and the partying went on in the bars and pubs until dawn.

Marketing director of Cerler, Jaime Río said: ‘The whole day went very well. There was lots of snow with good weather, sunshine and pleasant temperatures, which is why it was so popular. The torch-lit descent was also a great hit and there were lots of spectators as it’s so beautiful to watch.’

He added: ‘This is an annual event and every year it becomes more popular, so we’ll definitely be holding it again next year.’

Cerler is part of the Aramon Group which runs five ski resorts (Cerler, Formigal, Javalambre, Panticosa, and Valdelinares) in Spain.
