In the best Olympic result for a British female skier for thirty years, Chemmy Alcott took a superb 11th place in the women’s downhill at San Sicario, Italy. The Gold Medal went to Michaela Dorfmeister of Austria, just 1.36secs of Chemmy.

“I didn’t expect anything in the downhill event,” said Alcott.
“I expected to do better in the super-G so it takes the pressure off. I can go hell for leather in that as I’ve got an 11th place under my belt.”
The Super-G takes place this coming Sunday.
