Marmot Extreme under one month away
The Marmot Extreme Skiing and Snowboarding Competition, with prize money of NZ$40,000, will take place at The Pinnacles at New Zealand’s Whakapapa Ski Area, September 23 to 26 - as reported by First Tracks Online.
Last year’s inaugural Marmot Extreme Comp exceeded all expectations, says Tim Wilkinson, Marketing Coordinator for Ruapehu Alpine Lifts, operator of Whakapapa. This event is the only one of its kind on New Zealand’s North Island. It is also one of a very small number of Big Mountain competitions in the world that includes skiing and snowboarding, and even telemarkers. The prize pool is only second in New Zealand to the NZ Burton Open and is bigger than many of the same type of events elsewhere.
