Verbier Ride 06 - Gains IFSA World Tour Status
The Verbier Ride 06, presented by www.peakperformance.com and run in association with www.gizmondo.com, is running this year from the 18th - 24th February. The events kick of on Saturday 18th with the worlds top freeskiers arriving in the ski resort of Verbier, Switzerland. Thereafter the event schedule is:
- Sunday 19th: Big Mountain Qualifications
- Monday 20th: Big Mountain Finals
- Tuesday 21st: Big Mountain Super Finals
- Wednesday 22nd: Skier Cross
- Thursday 23rd: Slope Style (Freestyle)

The days of competition will see the worlds best freeskiing talent on show to the specators in the resort of Verbier and to the millions that will watch the TV broadcast and website video footage. The atmosphere is amazing in resort throughout the week of the event. The freeskiing community of riders carries with it a great camaraderie and spirit that’s all about sharing the experiences of freeskiing and exploring the mountains. You also have the steezy freestylers in town for the week throwing it down in the snowpark. Bars like Pub Mont Fort, Farinet, Casbah, TaraTata, Wonderbar all get involved with the action. You can also watch the days action in Harold’s Cyber Cafe at 11pm each night before hitting the bars.

RIDE GAINS WORLD TOUR STATUS - Switzerland’s first ever World Tour event
Verbier Ride 06 was invited to become part of the IFSA (International Free Skiers Association) Freeskiing World Tour, the first ever of its kind in Switzerland! With World Tour status, the event will attract the elite freeskiers to the infamous meeting place of the Mont Gele, where they will demonstrate the style and skill essential for skiing the variable and challenging terrain. Each Rider will be judged on style, fluidity and line, ‘an expression session on the mountain’ as Jim Jack, President of the IFSA described. NEW TITLE SPONSOR ANNOUNCED - Peak Performance
Ride Freesport is proud to announce a new partnership with Peak Performance. The Swedish based apparel brand will be the first ever to present a IFSA Freeskiing World Tour in Switzerland. Peak Performance have signed to the Ride event series until 2007 with a view to continuing the agreement further still. People visiting Verbier for the event will be able to check out the latest range in the Peak Performance shop in central Verbier. The location of the shop is just up from the Place Central on the road towards Medran.
ATHLETE INSCRIPTION - New system announced
Due to the massive amount of inscription forms already sent to the Verbier Ride administration, it was necessary to change the process of inscription for the quality of the event and the safety of the riders. Within the last month alone, 300 riders have inscribed. We have consequently updated the COMPETITION page of www.verbierride.com with simple guidelines and regulations which must be followed. Please read thoroughly and have a referee confirm your level and ability to enter the competition. Deadline to inscribe is 4th February. The start list for the qualification day will be announced on the Verbier Ride website on 5th February.

Please be aware that the period of the Verbier Ride will be very busy in the village, therefore we advise all athletes or team managers to book accommodation before coming to the resort. LES ARCS FREERIDE - Follows on from Verbier Ride
The next stop on the IFSA World Freeskiing Tour is the Les Arcs Freeride from the 27th February to 3rd March. For information on Les Arcs Freeride, goto www.ridelife.com. It’s the 7th edition of the event and once again the world top riders will hit Les Arcs to conquer the mythical slopes of the Aiguille Rouge. An event not to be missed!
