South Korea bids for 2014 Winter Olympics
On Monday, the South Korean government officially approved the 2014 Winter Games bid of PyeongChang County, Kangwon Province, according to this report in The Korea Times .
The host of the 2014 Winter Olympics will be determined at the IOC general assembly in June 2007, and competition is expected to be fierce.
Currently, several European cities are named as potential main competitors, including Salzburg, Austria; Munich, Germany; and Oestersund, Sweden. Even in Asia, Kangwon Province will be likely to meet some challengers from cities such as Harbin, China.
