Avalanche in British Columbia takes two heli-skiers
Two heli-skiers lost their lives to an avalanche in British Columbia, Canada, earlier this week.
This Globe and Mail feature reports that the pair were skiing with three others in a heli-skiing trip expedition organized by Last Frontier Heliskiing.
The five skiers caught by the avalanche had been skiing in the Skeena mountain range near Nigunsaw Provincial Park with a guide and the helicopter pilot…
The two fatalities follow an earlier large avalanche in northwest B.C. that claimed the life of a male European heli-skier 60 km. north of Hazleton on Jan. 10.
Despite huge snowfalls throughout B.C., this has not been a particularly deadly season for avalanches in the province.
