Austria's oldest Benedictine monastery was turned into this unique hotel in the centre of Mondsee, only a short walk from the lakeshore. Internet access and parking are free of charge. Hotel Schloss Mondsee offers spacious gallery rooms with views of the courtyard and the steeple, medieval cloisters, and a rose garden. The Schloss spa features a vaulted indoor pool, Finnish sauna, aromatic steam baths, and a relaxation area. Massages are also available. Regional and traditional cuisine is served in the Schlossbräu restaurant. Half-board includes a breakfast buffet and a 4-course dinner. First mentioned in documents in 739, the monastery was turned into a palace by Napoleon in 1810. The nearby Mondsee Lake and the other lakes of the Salzkammergut region offer a wide range of water sports.
