HELP! - Meribel Transfers

Hi,

Saw a cheap deal to 3V's and booked without even noticing a transfer wasnt included, tried to book through the same company but they seem to want a stupid amount. Whats the cheapest possible way for 3 people to get from Geneva to Meribel-Mottaret on sat 31st of Jan and back a week later? Are there any scheduled busses or is private transfer the only way?

Cant help with the transfer I'm afraid, however, was it lowcostholidays.com? I have just had the same experience going to Soldeu, Andorra. Fortunately I have done the trip many times myself, so know how to get there independently.

I think it is a bit irresponsible of companies to sell holidays without transfers. Often it is the most difficult part of the whole package to arrange.

Anyone else have a view on this?

Welcome to J2ski I think that Saturday the 31st Jan, is actually Sunday 31st Jan in 2010, so check your day of arrival closely.
This company run a scheduled bus service between Geneva and all valley towns in the Tarentaise each winter. Bookings can be made on line. I've used them in the past, and they work fine.

Are these being sold as "packages" but without transfers???

Fair dos if it's made (very) clear but it doesn't sound like it from the OP?

It was this deal we went for, it has no mention of the lack of a transfer with the 'package' and I ony found after I read the booking confirmaion email and saw there was no mention of a transfer. Now the company won't really help me find one, instead directing me to a URL which didnt work and telling me I was best to look around the internet for a transfer. Not great! Thanks for the help here, Bens Taxi seems to be the best bet so far, but involves lots of waitind in Geneva.

If you used the link on their website to book it (through the link you sent me) it is very clear that transfers are not included when you are going through their booking process.

You can add transfers to your trip to make getting around easier.

Click the price to add it to your itinerary.

3 x Scheduled shared transfer (see more info) (for 3 passengers) GBP579.87
1 x Ski Taxi (for 1-4 passengers) GBP601.47

If you don't require any transfers you can click the continue button to book your itinerary.

If it was different at the time of booking or you booked over the phone and nothing was said on the matter, I would make a complaint.

Hmm, well I think that's downright misleading.

Saying "You can add transfers to your trip to make getting around easier. " - hardly makes it clear that "getting around" means getting from the airport to your accommodation!

Granted they offer transfers and/or car hire but the wording implies those are optional; which of course they are - you could just walk.

Admin, I "think" that a package is defined as 2 or more components of the holiday. Don't quote me though

Yeah my thoughts exactly,

To be honest I didnt really scan through the extras as I assumed they were just that, something on top of a standard holiday package as I understand many comapnies offer private taxi transfers etc.

Try the nofussbus from Geneva to Meribel which charges about GBP68 return.

They aren't even labelled as extras, it is the next box after the price titled 'Transfers'.

Anyway, I hope you sort something out and it doesn't blow the budget!

Just think of it this way if it cost you GBP70 each for transfers thats only about 3 beers in the three valleys.

Haha yeah, im familiar with 3V priced from 2 years ago, beers before we go out and pints of cheap wine it is then...
