My hubby works overseas and won't be here and so I will be on my Lonesome

Yes something special, not telling 'tho. Hubby always buys something nice, except for a few years ago.........a flying lesson.......me with my fear of flying, I could'nt do it.

My wife and I are flying out of Bristol to go on holiday.....me skiing in Poland, her sightseeing (with her mum) to Italy.

I think I got the best deal!!

It will be my wedding anniversary but were staying in and i`ll cook a nice meal. But were going out for Sunday lunch with a group of friends and the kids.
The service is usually crap on Valentines day anyway.

I too will be flying out of bristol but to chambery ahead of our trip to Les Deux Alpes! Girlfriend isn't overly impressed!

we're off out for a meal with our two boys [ ] but, in the meantime, he's found out that I've bought him croissants/pancakes for breakfast, a fresh bloomer loaf for sandwiches, pork pies, cocktail sausages, bubbly, etc, etc...

I've found out that he's bought me strawberries and is about to melt some chocolate to dip them in and leave to set overnight

I've got the better deal

Going to our local ski hill for the Saturday morning first chair !!!

It's a winter time ritual. What could be more romantic than 10 minutes alone with your wife on a chair lift ... no distractions there!!

I always wanted to go there,heard it is very beautiful.

We skied today. Tomorrow (the 14th) we are going over to friends for a special b-day dinner party.

Yes, home is near Halifax,N.S.

And yes, we think it's scenic -- the land of the Bluenose and Peggy's Cove not to mention the setting for the 2011 Canada Winter Games. The local hills have been given $$$millions$$$ for upgrades --- snow making gear and groomers etc...

BC is even more scenic! Friends visited Sun Peaks last spring for 13 straight ski days! They were told, as they were made honorary resort guides, that no one has skied so much at one stretch as they did. Now these friends are in Zermatt for a couple of weeks.

well i have beaten you all couldn't go on my course poorly, so i have had potatoes a la mash wiv ze boootter on ze top, peas ala processed and pie mit minced cow and ze onions, a very fine vintage of 2009 yorkshire tea deux sucre splash of udder juice, on a tray on my knee watching the best team in the world beat england yes

Herb Focaccia with Sun dried Tomato to start, followed by Pan fried Pork Medallions cooked in Harveys Bristol Cream with fresh Broccoli and Rusty fries

After all that he asks if there is a Valentines pudding

duke of edinburgh leaders course, ended up in bed about 9 ish lkast night migrane and throwing up, still a bit dizzy this morning but okay now,

you are funny bandit. why arent you 2 out for a romantic evening, just been reading the blog its great, beautiful place going to have to try it next year,

No such luck...I did the dusting..however, he did wash my car so fairs' fair.

No meal out for us as we had a very expensive week with some unforseen bills

Ugh, that sounds like a proper migraine, been there had that. Bet you were fragile today.

Really spoilt, 2 doz red roses, a trip to Amsterdam next month and.....prawn/crab cakes and salad, salmon new potatoes, mediteranean veg, just waiting for my dessert.

My OH bought me a card but my son was in a panic last night because his girlfriend was coming round and he didn't have one for her. So I got to look at it and say thank you before we gave it to my son to give to his girlfriend. (This all happened before my OH wrote in it.)

I dont believe people get hooked in by all this commercial garbage. I tell Mrs H I love her every day of the year, I dont need to be told when I should be telling her.

We don't tell each other I love you every day but we do, but we have the matter of female/male logic.... a couple of lads at work were telling me that they have agreed with there other half's not to buy each other anything for valentines, I then posed the question of female/male logic that even if we say something we don't necessary mean that, and the reward for a surprise gift of flowers and chocolates would be enormous.
I don't really care if I get anything or not but it really is a great surprise when there is a nicely wrapped present unexpectedly awaiting for you, especially when it was a pair of Bolle goggles

Only if you feel the need to take what I say so seriously, of course.

However, I do find things like Valentines Day, Fathers Day and other non events are just an excuse for people to get ripped off, should they choose to get their wallets out of course. My neighbour felt obliged to buy his Mrs some flowers, and ended up almost going into hospital with a heart attack when they charged him GBP48.
He only got her some because she would give him s**t if he didnt. Kind of sums it all up for me really.

I get where you're coming from.

However, I like that there's a reason to make a day slightly different. For example, I love mother's day because my boys make me cards and write me poems, make me toast in bed, give me kisses and cuddles all day long, empty the dishwasher, etc, etc, in short - it's a day off for me. I don't want presents, there's nothing I need [apart from ski holidays obviously ]

Hi Mike,One day we are going to go to N.S ,I would love to see it in the summer,looks so pretty! thats cool about the winter games,I didnt know that it was going to be there in 2011.

We went up to the peaks yesterday,it was so gorgeous...powder everywhere..mix of sun and snow falling! Lots of Americans because of presidents week..but we stayed at the top of the mountain where it wasnt so busy....sigh... wish I was rich, I would buy a place to stay up there!...maybe if I win the 649 loto

Thats crazy about your friends!!! 13 days!!! ha ha ha ya that sounds like a record!

You and your wife will have to come out sometime!
