Italian Ski Resorts - Any advice appreciated!

Hi there,

I am wanting some advice about living & working in an Italian Ski Resort. I am hoping to finalise my visa next week, and wanted to find out some info about various resorts to work in.

I have done several ski seasons in Whistler, Canada and am looking for a resort with good skiing and some nightlife. I am currently learning Italian and hope to be Intermediate in this before I arrive in Italy. I was thinking that the season would probably begin around mid-November?? I am happy to work as anything - I've done lots of hotel work, nannying, etc and would like to find somewhere where I can ski most days and work each night.

If anyone has any suggestions about which resorts, what sort of jobs might be available, whether or not mid-November is the right time to arrive, if it would be possible to find a job at one of the Olympic venues, etc, etc then absolutely anything would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Aussie Skier

Skier-from-Oz... mid-November is very early for Italy; few resorts open before mid-December, but if you're planning to come over then anyway I guess an early start may give you an advantage in the walk-in job market!
You might find some more info on Natives which is a resort workers site, but your best bet will probably the bigger, higher resorts like Cervinia.

Residence La Cascata

During the winter the chair lift starting directly from the Residence area will allow you to reach the ski slopes directly from your flat; this makes the position of the Residence unique and excellent. About 300 mt. from the Residence you can find some shops and reach the centre of the village in a few minutes.

Hi,
Livigno is a good place to get a job - not being biased as I live here - but Italian ski school are not the best for accepting outsiders - great shame as so few Italian instructors speak decent english - at least here - hope you manage to find something suitable!"

The best place in Italy for ski and job is Sauze d'Oulx.
