If I remember rightly, I'm sure Davemac had contacted them, and was told it would be in store by 1st September, but our 2 TKMAXX still only have a few bits and pieces at the minute, so they are obviously behind schedule....on the plus side, it must be any day now!!!!!

ebay is always good, I got some wicked spyder pants off there last season!

think thy were GBP30?? I find the maxx very good for the peripheral bits, goggles, gloves etc etc

I have been in several TK Maxx stores in the past week. Lincoln has nothing at all. Boston has some awful Trespass stuff and not a lot else. Sheffield had a small number of Quiksilver bottoms in and some Trespass jackets, but again not a lot.
I may be visiting some more stores this week, but early signs suggest the ski wear is not in stock yet.

You are right GeodieSki, TKMax did email to say the stores would receive ski stock in the first week in September.

Called into the Dundee store two weeks ago. Only two racks, one with anoraks, "Dare to" standard, and one with salopettes. No peripherals yet.

Desperately need a pair of gloves. Mine died at the start of last season, and it took half a roll of silver "gaffer" tape to hold the thumb together. Made Pavel's gloves look brand new.

I also got some Spyder on Ebay, 2 pair pants and 2 pr jackets, VERY nice. I really think they are actual "Spyder", I paid $200 total including shipping. Looking on line I think it was about $1000-$1200 worth of clothes (maybe more). I think they were factory seconds or something, 1 is missing part of one of the Spyder logos another has a bad stitch but you have to look hard to find the flaws. I bought a Nike ACG jacket in TK Maxx this weekend for GBP59.99 (reduced from GBP140.00)

Really good, slim-lined jacket with plenty of pockets, decent snow skirt, ipod pocket that is acessable from the outside, a hood that fits over my helmet, and most importantly it is really warm.

Is that the black one with the 4 pockets on the front? I tried that on and nearly went for it, but I am hanging fire for an Arc'Teryx one to be honest.

I was in the MK store Saturday, and they had Berghaus jackets in, along with some other lesser known but good quality Italian brands, some Nike ACG stuff, and a lot of Dare2be and Trespass gear. I ended up buying the Mrs a pair of Roxy white sallopettes for GBP40 which she was thrilled with. I am hanging on for confirmation of a couple of offers on Ebay for the Arc'teryx jackets before I go raiding TK again next month.

I was going to hold out for something else too but then I had that terrible feeling that if I didn't get it I'd miss out as the stock isn't so good this year (apart from the ACG jacket of course).

Nothing much in any of ours. A few dare to be, a few tresspass the only thing was nice Roxy salo's, but I bought them at the end of last season. Try again this weekend. Last year I bought a really nice Betty Rides jacket in aubergine, but find it difficult to get salo's that will go with it.

Been this weekend to the one in Kensington High St and the one in Tun Wells.

What I got:

Trespass PAnts : 30
Columbia pants : 40

Socks and hat

What my OH got

2 pairs rip curl pants 30 each

one trespass jacket 30

both of us also got some gloves

We now have everything we need for our trip, I might be getting another jacket though.

We went to Decathlon in Surrey Quays at the weekend and they were just putting their ski gear out. Some great stuff and very reasonably priced too.

I went at the weekend and got the kids a ski jacket each. both dare2be one was GBP25 and the other was GBP30.

For you geordies I got them at the Gateshead retail store on the Team Vally. didnt check the town.

They seemed to have a few bits and pieces for adults though. If only I could lose a few pounds to actually be able to fit into the skiwear. at this rate I am going to have to sew a few black bin liners together and pinch some of the stuffing from an old duvet to insulate.

Also had to walk out the shop with the jackets under my arm because they make you pay for carrier bags, and I just refuse!!

Karen, Good tip on the carrier bags..I shall visit the Brizzle one tomorrow, and I'll see what's in and if there are any extra costs! Have you looked at boardwear, it's cut more loosely than ski clobber. Some of the ski brands (particularly French ones) just don't fit my shape, do their models have no bums by any chance?

Bandit we're obviously close in residence! I was in tkmaxx at the mall just t'other week and there was some lovely stuff in there! Haven't got round to a proper look yet! Not so sure about ladies stuff but men's there's plenty!! They charged for bags in there ranging from 1p upwards to about 10-20p!

Just back from Brizzle. Not too much in the ladies skiwear section. Not many goggles and gloves either. A few jackets, mostly Trespass, ACG,Surfanic and a couple of racks of ski trousers. Mostly small sizes. I thik they are still getting the stock in. Charges for carrier bags signed up at the tills.
Parked in the new and very smart Cabot Centre, it's very expensive

Just got meself a wicked WSCT jacket ("west scout" i believe is the official name). GBP59.99 looks awesome but a bit more than I thought i'd have spent on a jacket though tbh. But it's mega cool, i'm wearing it and my salopettes now!!

The Maxx in Nottingham seems to have a bit more "upmarket" ski wear this year. Some stuff over the GBP100 threshold and not much below GBP50. Still early doors yet though I guess

roxy / quiksilver, some nice "section" jackets, Nike too. seemed to be quite a bit for boarders actually. I noticed a couple of berghaus items too. Maybe it was the prices i noticed rather than the brands. Although there were the usual Tresspass, surfanic and Dare to be items, there didn't seem to be many of them?

Think there was a lot more last winter tbh. Loads of stuff for women upstairs though!

I visited the Rugby store this afternoon. Same stuff as the others I have been into, and not much thats particularly great to be honest:

Trespass - various from this cheap manufacturer. Good value but not the most stylish there is
Dare2be - yucky green jackets
Nike ACG - some nice black jackets, someone on here got one of these I think
Lafuma - the odd jacket
Berghaus - loads of blue jackets in SMALL size, GBP110 for a GBP280 jacket is a great bargain
A few sallopettes as well, but nothing that stood out

I dont think they have really got going with their stock, so I'd give it another few weeks to be honest. They did however have a shed load of Reusch gloves, and I bought the Mrs a lovely pair of mittens with inner gloves and leather palms for GBP25.

If anyone comes across anything exciting in other stores, let us know on this thread please.

Tony if you have a chance to go to kensington they have a big selection. lots of stuff for the ladies. I bought a dare2be jacket for GBP59 as well, white and black with some green stripes on the side.
I noticed that same stuff for women is cheaper don't know why.

Unfortunately I dont like any of the Dare2be or Trespass ranges, apart from ONE Dare2be lightweight short cut jacket.

I havent had a chance to go into the London area stores, but I did go into Bradford and Grantham last week, and Boston today.
The Bradford store is horrible, clothes all over the floor, all out of order, not arranged in sizes, and no specific ski wear area, just all thrown in here and there. I found a couple of Nike jackets, but that was about it.
Grantham had a decent selection of stuff, especially womens, including a lovely Cross jacket which I am going to buy my daughter for Xmas, over GBP110 off rrp.
Boston didnt have much to speak of, but I did find some nice brown Quiksilver bottoms, and a fantastic pair of sky blue Scott sallopettes, which I was umming and ahhing over for about 30 minutes, before deciding not to get them. I may change my mind and go back for them, as they were really smart.

I havent yet found a store which has got any skiing sunglasses in. A lot of stores have got goggles in, mainly Bloc and Sinner (some of which are actually really nice looking), but I havent found any glasses anywhere.
Last year I had a superb pair of North Face glasses which I paid GBP20 for, and in traditional style, I broke them. I do it every trip, at least 1 pair, usually when I put them in my pocket and then bend over to do up my boots.....so if anyone has seen any decent glasses, please let me know where.

Oakley Half Jackets with polarized lenses. They are designed to come apart, the lenses and arms all detach, so they are virtually indestructable.

I dropped in to Hatfield branch today, and came home GBP200 lighter. However, for that I got my son a black Nike jacket and a pair of mustard coloured Static sallopettes, and my daughter a khaki Cross jacket and a pair of pink Ripcurl sallopettes - as well as 5 pairs of Lange socks.

Sadly, no glasses.

For low end gear, ALDI can be worth checking out. The adult ranges are usually extremely limited but it can be great for kids gear, especially accessories - really cheap decent quality socks, gloves, hats, etc. In Ireland the ski gear usually comes out immediately after Christmas.

I don't shop at Tkmaxx because the Norwich branches are very similar to Primark most of there goods are on the floor and closer inspection I have problems with the quality. I find better quality bargains on the net.

You're not kidding. I called in thier yesterday whilst in town on business, and it was the worst TK Maxx I have ever been into. No organisation, sizes, etc, stuff all over the floor, it was shoddy

Depends where you go, the Dartford branch is horrendous, the Tunbridge well is good, the Kensington one is ok.

I guess it differs from one to the other.

i bought all my gear already just need to buy a pair of goggles, maybe going to TK maxx this weekend

Lots of Sinner goggles in which are actually pretty good. My Mrs had some last season and found them comfy and good quality.
They have some in with CAT3 lenses mirror coated with UVA/B/C protection up to 400m for GBP20.
Vented antifog too, pretty good value really.

This year's range has just come out. Hubby, son & myself all wear their stuff & have been very happy with it. Mine will be used for its 4th season this winter & it's still totally fine.

Interesting. I bigged up TK Maxx to some mates a few years ago, and they both said it was a jumble sale and full of scumbags and pikey clothing!!! Having experienced particularly good branches, I found this hard to understand, but having visited Cathedral Retail Park store yesterday, and if thats your only experience, I can understand where you are coming from.

I suggest you take a trip to other stores around the UK when you get the opportunity.

funny you should say that. my husband bought a jacket from the shop for GBP29.99 and we had a good laugh and joke about it ("I'll wear it for football matches if it's cr*p"). in fact, he took his old jacket away just in case... turned out it was fantastic and it looks really good too. absolute bargain!

I used to buy lots of that brand when I was living in Portugal, my OH has a jacket she's taking to Alpe D'Huez from Quechua, their stuff is cheap but really good, I remember a 100l bag that I bought for GBP20, and it last me the whole time I was in the army and lots of summers camping, I left it somewhere back at home.

Oh i've been to TK Maxx today and both 2 pairs of goggles, some bloc ones for me and some sinner ones for my OH, both 400nm and double lenses, cat 2 with ambar lenses.

OK, I've just raped the TK Maxx in Nottingham, walked in for a nosey safe in the knowledge that I already have everything I need to ski. Looked in the Girls section with my better half and came across a womens "quiksilver" jacket for GBP29.99 (RRP GBP110). The Jacket was last seasons and was apparently a Small Womens. Quiksilver don't make womens clothes - it's branded as Roxy for women so I thought to my self "I may be in for a bargain here!!" Tried it on and it fitted like a glove. Cool Camo design too!! Must have been an error on the TK maxx front, considering not one Quiksilver jacket in the mens section was less than GBP60

Also bought a pair of Leki Poles for GBP9.99

Also bought a white pair of tresspass goggles for 12.99

Also bought a pair of Billabong gloves for GBP7.99

Also bought a Tresspass peaked hat for GBP4.99

Now I have a few bits spare??

Lots of good gear in Nottingham store - Men, Look in the womens section!! (Stay away from the lingere though, unless you're that way inclined of course???)

Nice one. I have to admit I always trawl the womens ski section too, and luckily I did in Livingston last week, as I found a fantastic pair of mens Reusch gloves, rrp GBP85 for GBP20. I think they were incorrectly prices, but I wasnt going to argue.
Just waiting for 1 jacket to arrive from the US now which was a specific model, and thats us sorted.
I wouldnt mind getting some new poles though, didnt realise TK stocked anything but extendable walking poles.

I got the only adult pair of poles I saw in the shop, I did also see 2 child pairs (about 70cm) at different locations in the store but no actual pole display??

You might say..... TK Maxx's organisation is a long way off "Pole Position!" I love crap puns!

I bought a Dare 2 Be jacket a few weeks ago in the Middlesbrough store (not great on the organisation front) for GBP39.99 (RRP GBP120).
It’s a bit bright, but surprisingly looks better on than on the hanger, and the specs seemed pretty good (waterproof and breathable to 10,000mm)

My Columbia jacket (also from TK Maxx last year) has been relegated to the stables as the zip is dodgy, so it was this or head to a ski shop (which I was trying to avoid)…
The Cross salopettes I bought last year will hopefully do me for a few more years yet

The Teesside Park store had a lot of choice when I was last in, but mostly Tresspass, none of which I particularly liked.

Also ordered a few pairs of socks and a set of Helly Hansen merino wool thermals on line so with the new jacket, hopefully won’t freeze too much this year

I have to say that some of the D2Be stuff this season is a massive step forward in terms of not looking like a complete dork, unlike the Trespass jackets which still fit like a sack of potatoes.
If you want jackets on a budget, the D2Be stuff is about as nice as you can get IMO.
Mind you, if you are prepared to pay GBP40 for a ski jacket, you might be better off paying GBP10 to GBP20 more and getting a much nicer brand and style.
The Cross range is particularly nice, I like their stuff a lot.

LIDL in Ireland get their ski gear in on Thursday - limited range but can be handy for stuff like socks, also looks like the sunglasses are a real bargain.

I'm pretty limited on what I can buy this season, but I did spring for some new googles at T J Max. $29 was a good deal for these

just bought a set of Leki poles for a fiver....the only problem is that they only have one strap...the other tk round here had one the same so I might try and do a deal with them but in the meanwhile who sells spare straps................?

anything for a bargain!!!

Had another little prowl in Nottingham today, (Ladies section)

Gore Tex Quicksilver gloves no price tag on em and no others about so they sold me them for 14.99

Thats what happened to me. I picked up a pair of really smart Reusch gloves, rrp GBP85 and they said GBP39.99 on the ticket. I got to the cashdesk, and the ticket had fallen off, so they sent someone over to get a price check. They came back with a cheaper paid of Reusch gloves on sale for GBP19.99 and the lady at the till said "These are the same make, so they wil do" and scanned the ticket.
Thats what you call a result.
