Does anyone know of any other countries as good as Switzerland for skiing?

I have been skiing my whole life but have never really been to other places to do it other than Switzerland. Wondered if anybody had been to other countries that are ideal for skiing and other winter sports?...

Austria?
Italy?
USA?
Canada?

Every country has something to offer. I am stuck on France for a variety of reasons.
But have skied in Switzerland (Verbier and Grindelwald) and Austria, even Spain.
Personally I do not believe any country has the monopoly on great skiing, they all have their plus points.
If you want to be adventurous and go elsewhere maybe a good start would be to work out what in a skiing holiday makes Switzerland so great for you?

I think there are some other high mountains in some other countries somewhere. In fact I think Switzerland shares some mountains with France so it might be quite similar.

Not rising to that one......it has been snowing on Cairngorm, but with the wind chill factor taken into account, the temperature is -14C. Yesterday, the wind gusts were up to 114mph.

Switzerland it is then!

With that in mind, have just been checking on a pre-Xmas week to Zermatt. It have me a chuckle to see that the Inghams flight supplement, (they are using Easyjet), is more than the cost of the directly booked flights!

At risk of being lambasted for being off topic ......
Here is my two wibblesworth.
BA came out cheepest on flights to Malaga once luggage and other extras were included. Ryanair, cheep headline price, most expensive in total. Easyjet in the middle.
Flew BA business class to Cyprus last year for GBP50 each more than Easyjet, GBP85 more than Thomson. Smiled as I took 40kg of luggage, used real cutlery, choice of food, free drinks (champagne flowed for some), airport lounge and getting on and off the plane first.

I find each country's skiers reflect their national culture -
Swiss - highly technical, controlled and a bit restrained
Italian - totally unrestrained, fast and passionate, but the food and laughter makes up for it all...
Austrian - very friendly, warm hearted - but highly serious about skiing and, on average, the best technical skiers i have seen..
French and Nth America - afraid to say I haven't skied there
New Zealand - totally relaxed, but rugged can do, go anywhere philosophy.

decide which you like and i think you'll find the mountains to suit!

Yeah, the Austrian part of St Moritz. I consider that good. We are swiss and we often go to lungern-schonbuel for weekends but Austria is beautyfull with good ski tracks!

Niseko has been ranked the number 2 snowiest resort on the planet. It has excellent offpiste powder & tree skiing/boarding.

What Austrian part of St Moritz is that then? I went to St M Jan 2011 and as far as I recall it was all in Switzerland

Rocky Mountain's in the USA. Utah in particular, where the motto is "greatest snow on earth"! But I'm half tempted to keep it a secret...
