No competition as far as we are concerned. We just carry on with the trip as before and welcome newcomers. AllyG is still with us and still falling over, it's an occupational hazard.
We try to cater for all sorts and this can make finding accommodation difficult, e.g. single rooms with low supplements can be tricky. We also like a big ski area for the more energetic members of the group. This attention to detail doesn't suit everyone, hence the splinter group doing their own thing. Room for all on the piste, that's the important thing. |

Now come on UD, let's be truthful about this. The original J2Ski group is still going strong, some of us have been every year from the start and will continue to do so with like minded ski friends. So far we have managed to grow our number from 18 the first year upwards and although the group got rather large and unwieldy at one point, we still managed to find accommodation to suit all. Last year and this we have organised a two week trip to accommodate more people and we are off to the Dolomites. A few people who had come with us previously decided to go off on their own trip, which is fair enough but don't try to suggest that the original group has split up because it hasn't! We have always had members come and go and we welcome new people all the time. |

We are gearing up for the 5th group holiday beginning this weekend. So far we have visited Tignes Les Brevieres, Folgarida, Sauze D'oulx and Alpes D'huez. This year it's Kaprun. No doubt reports on the resort will follow and then we will be looking for next years venue. Watch this space.

Is there ANY advantage to hiring anything but economy skis?

I bought my skis after hiring a pair and finding they really suited me. I had struggled with hire skis up until then but went for a more expensive category and the difference was amazing. Perhaps I just got lucky? Having skied on them for a few years now I realise that technology has moved on and perhaps I should consider trying new skis again. I will definitely hire though until I find a pair that suit me again. Buying without trying is not sensible IMO.

If we can organise a trip to another resort, Niederau for example, then I think we should. In previous years we have managed to book a coach to take us to explore nearby slopes that aren't linked to the resort we are staying in and it has been very successful.

You are going to need some pretty strong soap powder to get the stains out of that T-shirt.

Thanks once again to Old Andy for organising a brilliant venue for us. AllyG has done a sterling job in previous years. It is sad to lose the title J2Ski Holiday as we have used this in previous years but I understand it is not an official trip (never was). Such a shame the group has to fragment but some wanted to do different, so.....
However the main group is still all here and looking forward to another great holiday and for any newbies who want to join our happy crowd. I am also lucky to be doing the full 2 weeks :-) |
