I'm with Emma - if it wasn't for the saving of a package I would make my own way there any time.
The transfers I can cope with it's the utter waste of time sitting around at airports. 2 hours to check-in. We get fed a line of bull about it being for security checks and the like. Is it Hell! Security takes seconds - how long does it take for you to walk through a metal detector & your bags to be XRayed? Seconds (a minute if you have to be frisked). It's really about keeping you in the airport so that you spend money in the retail outlets and food shops. That's what really gets my goat. Going on a plane was exciting as a 5 year old. Now it's a mind numbing experience. The demise of Concorde has seen air travel regress - I don't mid planes getting bigger but slower - no no no. Skiing holidays aren't about the journey - it's the destination. |

Courmayeur?
Just under the tunnel from Chamonix. Not a huge ski area but enough for a long weekend and, if last year was anything to go by, damn near empty, we had some of the pistes virtually to ourselves. |

Phenomenal traction but when they let go the skid marks are impressive!

You could always wear your lid (or up to 3 beanies) along with ski boots & jacket to save on your baggage allowance!
However - you can only wear one bobble hat. If you wear two security might think you are in disguise - wearing budgie smugglers and walking on your hands. |

Forgive me for a little herecy but what does a bobble add to a woollen hat other than to assist Andy Pandy impersonation?
Is the bobble the skiing equivalent of furry dice? |

The US airport thing varies from airport to airport.
They could not have been more friendly in Sandford - yet were just as thorough as the surly gits I've experienced elsewhere. The trouble is Customs & Immigration tend to forget they are part of the travel & tourism package. Yes they have a job to do but doing it in a surly, reluctant way is bad for tourism. Without the tourist most of them would be unemployed! |

Or a steam iron & don't put water in it!
£5 from Tesco. |

I wouldn't fret about March per se - lack of snow is a problem at any time of the season & many wouldn't consider it the end of the season until you get into April.
Certainly there may well be spring conditions low down, however many times March benefits from good dumps although it melts a little faster because the sun is stronger. |
