Usually by now we are tuning up for a big break on the third Nov weekend. It's been way to warm to really call it a decent opening .... anything will be horribly skied out--turning to crud within minutes.

(Last time I looked out the window, there were too many gas guzzling SUVs adding more CO2 than we can handle. No wonder we have trouble getting snow and cold...)

We need a 100 cm base to even consider giving W a nod. tsk tsk

No photos right at hand now, but I can assemble some over the next few days. (I've got too much work to do....whine whine whine)but when I get a break I'll shovel some over!

Thanks to all who have replied.

Funny coincidence: I just discovered that my neighbour 2 blocks away grew up in Munich, and cut his teeth in the Aus alps! He's a DBD/ backcountry skier at Whistler, like our household.

(Yes, a real live neighbour--someone I can actually visit in person, and I don't have to register or use a password to do so!) (Although I suppose I could go in disguise....) Hahahaha

Anyway, I digress. I'll put the question to him over the next few days and see what he comes up with: to compare and contrast St Anton with other suggestions.

Watch this space.

They will move you to the appropriate group for your level, interest, risk-acceptance/aversion. They are trained to assess your skills quickly and make an appropriate match. Assert yourself, as you are probably paying your year's worth of savings!

It's one of the best ski hills in North America. What are your criteria for asking? I can comment on pistes and terrain, but since I don't overnight there (we live close by) I can't comment on accom. or night life.
