Thanks for the help - mayerhofen sounds good as we like to be able to easily access the skiing! Many thanks
Thanks for getting back to me! They would be relying on public transport but will ski some days so its just finding somewhere with opportunity do do other things if conditions are not ideal. Somewhere with nice walking routes and possibility to learn cross country would be ideal? Will have a look at serre chevalier, thanks for the suggestion!
Hi

Does anyone have any suggestions on ski resorts that are good for skiers who like to travel a lot of ground along with some that don't want to ski everyday and so would like other activities such as walking and cross country skiing. Any advice and thoughts greatly appreciated!

Many thanks

Hi

Got back from a week in Tignes at the weekend. The snow is fantastic its getting moguled by mid day even the greens - but I have to say conditions are great!

They are very very concerned about avalanches at the moment. Santons was closed most of our time there so we either went down Face which in its moguled state was hard work (fun though!) or just jumped on the gondola and cheated! You could always go down into another village. I would also suggest piste L is shut for the foreseeable future as there was no evidence of a piste at all when we went past!

They were very busy dynamiting etc to keep as much open as possible and usually by 10am everything other than the odd run was open as usual!

Just got home after a week skiing. I bought myself a pair of boot gloves before we left and they were fantastic! Made sure my socks were warm and put the hairdryer in my ski boots before putting them on and put the gloves on straight away. No cold feet all week it was brilliant! They were pretty easy to get on and off and could still easily adjust your boots through the day without fully removing them. Would definitely recommend!

Thanks to everyone for all your advice :)

Thank you for all your help! I will definitely try warming boots/socks up before going out and then getting some boot gloves to keep the heat in!

I think i am keeping my core warm haha usually wear thermals etc - its only ever my feet that are cold, normally warm enough in general so hopefully that will do the trick :)

Thanks for all the advice!!

Thanks for all your help!

So the ski boot cover/gloves sound like a good idea - however if your feet are already cold im guessing they don't warm them up. Do they really keep your feet at a normal temperature from when you put the boots on?

Unfortunately I have never really been skiing in temperatures colder than -15C and yet still got cold feet. As i say it has been much better with proper fitting ski boots but still not great. I seem to remember having the same problem with snowboard boots as well and there even more comfy! However i very rarely get cold feet any other time.

Maybe keeping the heating insoles I have and adding the boot gloves would be the way to go?

Thanks for your feedback! I had my ski boots fitted ect and they put in insoles for me and my feet have not been as cold as when i had hired boots previously but i was skiing in april as opposed to december lol! I have various ski socks of different thicknesses and make up but non really seem to make much difference but maybe sitting them on the radiator for a bit in the morning would be a good idea!

The boot cover though does sound like a good idea so I will definitely have look into that as well :)

Thanks!
