Having driven for years we are flying on a Tuesday (6th March -back on Sunday) to Geneva for a ski break in Tignes. Looking at car hire from the airport - but before I commit, does anyone have a better way of getting to resort?
Thanks!! :) |

Thanks - we have never had to show a medical cert for a week before - sounds like it will be a right faff if we have to get one in resort when we arrive - surely the medical centres will be swamped?

Hi
I read on a Tignes website that to get the Cerre/Carte Niege insurance you need a medical report saying you are fit to ski. Can anyone confirm/deny this please? Heading out on Boaxing Day (yay! :D) and want to get it here if we need one.... Thanks!! |

I guess it is all down to personal choice. I thought I would hate wearing one as I have skied for many years without one. I actually found that after the 1st morning I forgot I was wearing it - my hubby also wore one for the 1st time last year too. As I force mt kids to wear helmets (17 and 13 years) - I could not continue to say the the elder one 'because I say so'! It was a case of put up or shut up!I borrowed one last year - bought one at the Ski and Snowbaord show a few weeks ago.....
I do think that the slopes have got more busy and maybe more dangerous over the years .... I guess you will never really know if you need one or not until that accident happens - and then it might be too late! ) |

I started wearing a helmit after a bad fall when I hit my head on compacted piste. Made merealise how dangerous it can be - also my son has actually been concussed byslipping over on compacted snow......

I would agree - Val Thorens - high resort so usually got snow. We went this Christmas - (1st time we have gone ski-ing over the Christmas week) - it was the BEST Christmas we have had for a long time! Have 2 kids - 15 and 11 years and stayed at the Hotel val Thorens. I cannot speak highly enough of the hotel. We had a lovely room with an adjoining annex room for the kids. Service was superb, 4 course meal every eve and a gala 6 course meal on Christmas eve (when Santa also visited the hotel!. We were very luck with the snow - conditions were great and the resort was not overly busy - in fact some days we had certain runs all to ourselves. Defo planning to go again this year if we can. :D

Went to Val T at Christmas - stayed at the Hotel Val Thorens (at the top of the drag lift). Would defo recommend the hotel - very friendly, great customer service - and a nice sauna and jacuzzi for the end of a hard day on the slopes!
