Just going back to the stretching discussion
I am not an expert and can only talk from experience. I have done a vast amount of sport in my time at a reasonable level as well. including Athletics, Squash, Badminton and Kung fu which I studied for many many years many times a week. In my experience stretching has been an invalueable tool for protecting me from injury. I can tell you that I have tried to kick from cold and injured myself on at least 2 occasions but had never had an injury of that type when i have stretched well first. Admittidly the typical skier may not be that flexible though and so may find stretching a real chore and if done wrong it can cause injuries but if you are sensible and consistent I believe it will be of great benefit. My opinion |

Stretching, good call, Also a good Sauna after a good har day's skiing I think. But that is after.
Although it is also a good Idea to stretch and get supple before going skiing, you are much less likely to injure yourself if you are supple |

hi babyrose
Did you have a specific reason for chosing france? I ask because I would reccomend Austria 10 times over France. There is typically more to do at resorts Child friendly instructors, More English speaking instructors as well. On top of that Austria is awesome. I have skied France and Austria and I would rate france as low in comparrison. Austria is also Cheaper. I would look at Maria Alm, Mayrhofen, Hintertux, Lannersbach, eggalm, and St Anton. St Anton will be the most expensive but then again it is one of the best places to ski in the world. I would book your ski package when you arrive. In austria there is plenty to do, my favourite is the rodelbahn which is basically a a road up to a mountainf resteraunt, you will get a taxi up between say 6-9 you can eat up there and drink, then they close the road and everyone gets on sledges and you sledge down this windy road steering with your feet racing to the bottom an incredibly entertaining evening. Forget France try Austria Cheers Max |

Sounds Awesome,
All I have to offer is Heart fel Jealousy. Have a grate time, I know it is a while away but let us know how you get on. I don't know how far all of that driving is but I know that when I drove to The South of france from the UK that I was Shattered the next day, so If your going to do all of that driving and skiing I'd advise that everyone gets pretty fit first. i am sure you have already thought of that, but anyway. Good luck, sounds great Cheers Max |
