I had a murmur just reading your post.

Do not fear brooksy I have no intention in visiting A....... your safe for a few years
Interesting. Three causal factors are mentioned, altitude, (lower oxygen contant), temperature, (constricted blood vessels), and lack of fitness.

"It was found that over half of the heart attacks occurred in the first two days and within two hours of hitting the slopes"

Pretty conclusive. The authors recommend a minimum of 2 hours a week of sport. That, I would suggest is not the same as 2 hours a week in the gym!

My view wouldbe that 2 hours a week is pretty near useless to maintain any kind of standard fitness for skiing.

Oh Jeez, I'd better start carrying a couple of aspirin

Actually, that's not a bad idea as you get older anyway.

One might be well advised to take the aspirin?
Have done every day for 8 years now.

evidence suggests 1/2 asprin a day thins the blood sufficiently to greatly reduce the risk of coronary and peripheral artery disease. As a smoker and drinker with a passion for bacon I'll take anything I can get. Apparently 20,000 bottles of red wine a day has the same therapuetic effect.
As New Labour would say, 20,000 bottles was not a target, merely an asprination.
