del wrote:Good Hotel with great food. San Miguel beer is really crap, and very gassy. Kronenberg 1664 not much better either, and costs 3.5 euros. Staff are very good, and Christian, the Crystal Ski Rep was briiliant with a great sense of humour, 'Proper Job'.

My main gripe is the buses that ferry you to the El Tarter gondolas. At 9.15 in the morning, the queue's are 30 deep and more. You wait for 20 - 30 minutes for a bus.

I might try the Nordic next time, as this backs on to the ski slopes and the gondola.

Didn't see any of the world famous Andorran boiled eggs though. My mate reckons they are best ever. I think they must time the 3 minutes much better than we do.

When were you out there Del?
Christian the rep was indeed a top fella - very helpful & a good laugh.
I had the boiled eggs - erm.. nothing special

Was the Nordic the one in Soldeu then? cos I saw a few people skiing down the slope, straight over the bridge & into the back of the hotel - thats cool!

Yeah agree about the buses, there was a bit of a queue most mornings but it was usually bareable.
I was there last week of January 2009. The skiing was brilliant, but as I said , the courtesy bus was a bit of a pain.

The Nordic is actually down in El Tarter. They hold the skiing awards there on Fridays. It's right at the bottom of a ski lift, and you can ski right into the back of the hotel. It's great, but obviously more expensive than the Euro Esqui.

The boiled eggs I mentioned was not the Hotel ones. My mate is a bit of a tosser and comes out with strange things at times.

This hotel is probably one of the worst I have stayed in, maybe I have lucked out in the past though.

Our experience of the food was quite the opposite to the point of eating elsewhere most nights.
We stayed there last year. The plus points are that it's relatively clean and the rooms are warm. The downsides are that the food is, frankly, awful! It's like an all you can eat buffet and I probably wasted more than I ate, the food was that bad. The ski hire shop downstairs is the worst I have ever used, crappy old equipment and uninterested staff. It was a pain having to get the ski bus to the lifts but top marks to the drivers, you didn't have to wait more than 10 mins for a bus. It's location means that you either brave a 15/20 min walk up the hill to Soldeu or an equally perilous downhill walk into El Tarter.

Would I stay there again? F*ck no! But we managed to get a deal which was £300 all in last year which made it just about acceptable.
