First off, would just like to say Hi to everyone as I think this is my first post on the boards.

Back on topic - some nice choices their Hirsty. I find that Four Tet, Aphex Twin, and the electronica in general is particularly good for the technical sections.

I've not been able to listen to any tunes whilst skiing this season just gone thanks to having my mp3 player stolen

Still, if I did, I'd probably be listening to:

(1) Monkey Swallows The Universe - Sheffield Shanty
An amazing song from a little band from Sheffield who have sadly now gone on "indefinite hiatus"
(2) Final Fantasy - That's When The Audience Died
String instruments in indie music goodness
(3) Beirut - Cherbourg
Because it's an awesome song, and almost 'dear(or expensive..) mountain' in french
(4) Rordigo y Gabriela - Diablo Rojo
This pair are simply godlike on the acoustic guitar, and have so much energy in their playing.
(5) The Shins - Kissing The Lipless
Simply Beautiful
(6) Vampire Weekend - Walcott
One for those long cruisers on a sunny day
(7) Sufjan Stevens - The Black Hawk War
To be played when three steps from the top of a hike, when beautiful views of powder fields are ahead.
( M83 - Run Into Flowers
Another song almost as euphoric as the feeling you get whilst skiing
(9) Beethoven - Piano Sonata no. 21 'Waldstein'
The beginning is inspiration in a jar (or, it would be, if it were in a jar)
(10) Rage Against The Machine - Killing In The Name
Because sometimes I need to get rid of some anger, and get lots of adrenaline.

No real order to them...

My last trip to Mayrhofen I made a compilation so I did not have to fart on with my iPod whilst on the hill. These were the main tracks I listened to....

New Order - Crystal (Personal snowboarding fav)
Bloc Party - Hunting for Witches (Crystal castle Remix)
Evil Nine - Devil Stuff
Housemartins - Bow Down
Kate Nash - Foundations
Manic Street Preachers - The Everlasting
Pink Floyd - High Hopes
Robyn - With Every Heartbeat
New Order - 60 Mile and Hour

They are in no particular order, however surprisingly after hearing Lionel Richie's - All Night Long on a few occasions during the Snowbombing week (Cuban Brothers etc) I tried it on the slope and I am appaled to say it really worked......please don't ban me from this sit

"Erm, I think we're losing sight of the real issue here, which is 'What are we gonna call ourselves?' Erm, and I think it comes down to a choice between 'The League Against Salivating Monsters' or my own personal preference, which is 'The Committee for the Liberation and Integration of Terrifying Organisms and their Rehabilitation Into Society'. Erm, one drawback with that - the abbreviation is......

Lionel Richie??? Close, very close... consider this your final warning...

For me, the only tracks I want to hear on the mountain are the ones my skis are making...

But the songs in my imaginary iPod would have to include:-

Wagner - Ride of the Valkyries
AC/DC - Shoot to Thrill
Motorhead - Another Perfect Day
Foos - Hey Johnny Park
Less Than Jake – Help Save The Youth Of America From Exploding
ZZ Top - La Grange
Metallica - Wolf
Aimee Allen - Revolution (vid on youtube)

And when (hopefully) I put my youngest on snow next year it'll probably have to be the theme from In The Night Garden...

that's quite an eclectic mix tino_11!

my ipod is imaginary too but on it I would have the following (a bit more commercial than most of yours):-

1. bloc party - so here we are (by a long, long way)

and then in no particular order

kasabian - club foot
foos - doa
the smiths - how soon is now
the aloof - one night stand
mansun - wide open space
mark ronson - ooh wee
gorillaz - feel good inc and/or dare
chicane - offshore
massive attack - dissolved girl

that was fun! maybe I should start wearing the ipod after all...
