looking for an extensive beginner resort in Italy

Niederau or Westendorf in Austria, - sorry not done Italy, but these resorts suit what you are looking for, and can get the lift back down if needed. I have experienced the bit where you have an easy run back to the resort and 'poop your pants' (technical term of course!) down the last bit, and so dread the end of the day! (or what I sometimes have termed a 'brown run' - for obvious reasons!)

Well that piece of humour was wasted, alright then how about Passo Tonale, very easy runs snow sure and lots of Brits, how does that sound

Another vote for Bardonecchia, also Modonna di Campigleo. Or perhaps try Champoluc in the Monterosa ski area of Italy-no blue runs to bottom, but lovely blues at the top with the option of catching the six seater gondola to the Village.

How about Livigno, cheap relative easy slopes, and only four and half hours in a coach from Bergamo airport

Passo Tonale is ok however if you have any experienced skiers in the group then the resort will be hated as it is not extensive of challenging.

If you want somewhere that would suit all then I would recommend Cervinia as whilst there is a blue run into resort it can be challenging in places however you can easily catch the gondola back down.... There are some great wide and very easy blue runs. I learnt to ski there and would recommend it and it is great for the more experienced skier too.

I love Sauze, but to be honest I dont think its great for complete beginners. It is however perfect for people who have got limited experience and want quite cruisy slopes to go and parctise and build up confidence on.
Having said that, the ski schools were always busy when we were there.

I would go back to Sauze at the drop of a hat. Great fun place, and some lovely skiing to be done there, and more so over at Sestriere.
