Hi,
Lean forward, turn 180 deg then LEAN BACK to complete the turn. Keep your skis parallel.
This really does take some practice. To help you get round at first use a pole to push you round once you're half way. Obviously find a gentle slope. The easiest way to learn is on blades.

Bon ski!

I was unable to view the video, blocked out at work. I have been skiing backwards and spinning turns for years, even on old straight skis. The secret for me lies in flat skis and one of the basics of skiing. Always keep your weight comitted downhill. As you proceed through the rotation re-adjust your center so you are still comitting your weight downhill throughout the turn. Only practice on well groomed slopes. Al

I classify myself as being a bit of an old dog with my 50th due in April. I like to have fun and spend time when I can either off piste, jumping and spinning.
The spinning is fairly easy as long as previously mentioned you have the base flat to the snow to avoid catching edges.
I find that gently rocking backwards and then forwards over the tips/tails of the ski makes the spin faster.
I use Rossignol Bandit B2's (the longest in the range) and the length doesn't seem to make the spin harder.
My only problem is that after 5 fast spins i have lost my head - its almost better than 5 pints.

indeed very cool!
will get some video "axion" next time I go and will upload to the tube.
The dome is pretty quiet after 9 so plenty of space to practice. Unfortunately the next time I ski will be in Les Carroz but I have to wait 12 days to do it!!

wa-hey!! i can do that! i didn't have a clue what you people were on about but then i watched the video. i can't explain what i do, but yes, i spin! i was taught to do it on the mittermoos in niederau years ago wearing blades, holding hands in pairs and in a group of about 5 or 6 people (best fun ever!) and then managed to do it on skis. to jan/stenmark,
i've just looked at your gallery of pics. they ARE stunning, quite, quite beautiful. have only passed the Auhof en route to rudi's at the top. i am literally sitting at my computer salivating at niederau, especailly the one 'twinkle twinkle little village' or words to that effect. am trying to persuade friends to re - book for niederau next season, but they want to go to kitbuhel for new year. sigh. will email them the link to your site. my cavalier king charles would love it there ...L.

Thanks for the feedback on tips to get the spinning working. The snow was too thick to give it a dedicated try yesterday; but with all the methods on how to do this and do it well, I'm sure with practice it will come.
I think one reason we slightly older creatures like to take any opportunity to jump or be "launched" into the air; and try spinning -- is to maintain our youthful outlook. After all - there is no law stating that only the kids can have fun on the snow
Congratulations souldrive
So being a new spinner what part of the insrtuctions that were offered do you think were the most valuable?

Straight legs from jan was the crucial bit of info, the aspect i focussed on most anyway. Keeping weight downhill too! if you put half hour solid into it you'll get it. It's not really that difficult, when you know how.
Cheers!
