Hi Dobby. Had to ski often at Easter when the children were still at school. Our favourite was Saas Fee (Switzerland) at 7,000 feet village level, traffic free village, good for families and relatively easy all round skiing. If you lie Austria Hochgurgul and Obergugul are also very high (above tree level) but very traditional with almost guaranteed snow to end of April. Zermatt is also great, very high, but also very expensive. Guaranteed snow also in Val Thorens (France)but is not the prettiest place in the world. Ischgl in Austria is snow sure usually to end of April, nice family resort. Finally, what about Breckenridge, Colorado-ski through to May with no problem but a long way to go.

Quite fancy Austria because not been skiing there yet. I'll have to have a look at a piste map or two.

It depends on a season of course but if you are planning now look for a higher resort with at least some north- facing slopes. Also for this time a quiet resort is probably not the best idea because if skiing is too limited due to conditions you might get bored. Early Easter next year is good news but it can still be too warm. Zermatt is a very good option - lot of slopes to ski including on shady aspects and a lively village. Or maybe somewhere like Tignes.

I'd second Zermatt (have a read of my recent trip report).
Skiing is not too tricky. You can stay high if the conditions are too warm down at town level. However, bear in mind that the highest piste is up at 3,900m - the altitude can be an issue for some people (like my wife....). There is plenty going on in the town. Might be worth trying to stay half board as it is not a cheap place (or maybe self catering).
We used Stoked for our lessons (and boot adjustments). They were brilliant. Ask for Ismael!
