Must admit I tend to agree Ranch. I always carry my headphones but tend to use them only on lifts or when not actually skiing. I have a few times skied a totally empty piste in perfect conditions listening to a favourite track, but agree that losing the sense of hearing is not advisable. You can usually spot the clowns oblivious to everyone else and wrapped up in themselves and their music just by the way they're skiing ;-)

And you're right. You need to heR what's going on underfoot as much as a around you at times. Good pint well made.

Nothing wrong with editing music in to a film though :-)

I see the point re: MUSIC.

I dont believe for min i am irresponsible in having tunes on, i certainly don't have them on all the time.
My helmet kit comes with a mute switch which i clip on my jacket and its almost worn out. When i find my self in a position where i find the music is either distracting and limiting my ability i turn it off. As with TH most of the time it is only banging when on uncrowded pistes or on lifts (when I'm alone). The rest of the time its on very low.

I personally find i treat it bit like i do when driving. On the motorway, clear and at speed my tunes are blasting. Battling traffic on crowded roads that require concentration it basically goes off.

With regard to pole dragging. Yup, i do that, always have. I know i do it but never really thought about why. Guess it makes sense.
Skied: Arinsal, La Plagne, Alpe D'huez, Flaine, Les Arcs, Morzine, Les Gets, Avoriaz, Sauze, Courchevel, Val Thorens

Thanks. Mrs H's toe appears to have made a miraculous recovery, she hardly mentioned it at all while skiing. She skied with us all day every day apart from the second day when she went off an hour earlier with another couple who were over tired. She was a very good girl and may be rewarded with another ski trip in March if i can afford it!
BTW she was in the purple jacket and blue sallopettes in the vid.

All this chitter-chatter and your video makes me want to ski this afternoon! (Stuck in inquests so I can't!)

As for pole dragging, I had the very nasty habit of dropping my right hand on inside of the turn and dragging my pole. This throws the shoulders out with all the dire consequences that has. I have striven to correct the fault by constantly repeating 'drive the bus' and bring my hands forward as if I was clutching a big steering wheel!

From a safety point of view be it offpiste or onpiste is definitely not a great idea. Am actually surprised is even legal.

Each to their own but would certainly suggest is performance limiting. People who say it "helps with rhythm" only need to check out a nightclub. Music is on but plenty of people trapped in the body of a tree.

I tend to disagree. My helmet has audio in it and have used it for the past three years. Personally, I have it low in the background, I can still hear conversations and various "arrrgghhhhh" when people are about to ski into me. I find it good on gondola, annoying people next to me etc etc. Each to their own. But certainly not illegal - that is daft. Make no 'H' illegal first ;)
